What building it taught us

The connector's own docstring, verbatim. It lives beside the code so it cannot drift from it.

Philippine Statistics Authority CPI connector.

PSA OpenSTAT publishes separate 2012- and 2018-base CPI families through a keyless PXWeb API. This connector keeps those bases and their classifications separate. It retains the full national category catalogue, national basket weights, and the all-items series for every published geography. The 2018 family uses 2020 PCOICOP; the 2012 family uses 2009 PCOICOP. Neither is silently mapped onto this archive's COICOP 1999 taxonomy.

The API also exposes the full category-by-geography cross-product. Selecting that would add millions of mostly repetitive cells and make every rebuild much slower, so geographic coverage is deliberately headline-only while the nation keeps all 148 (2012 base) or 354 (2018 base) source categories.
